They are so quick and easy to put up, there's really no reason to leave them in tack when your not there.
FYI, we had our previous quick shade almost 20 years. It finally died when the fabric wore so thin after all that time, it literally shredded last summer when a puff of wind caught it just right and it puffed up. Split right in two. I'd say, after 20 years, it served a long and prosperous life.

Divide the amount of money you paid for shade it comes out fairly cheap per year.
Hopefully mine will last a long long time :)
