Some say, "it's my choice and it affects no one but me". Really? Ask a first responder what it's like to scrape off the highway a motorcyclist who chose not to wear a helmet. Or someone who flies off their bike and does a Sonny Bono. Do you think they are not affected? Or your family when they have to care for you 24/7 after hitting a tree and you can't control your limbs anymore.
Freedom is relative.

In the many many years of riding bikes, I have yet to ever see a bad head injury or really any kind of head injury. I have seen lots of skinned elbows, skinned knees, skinned knuckles from riding too close to a fence or a wall.
Let me make the decision to wear a helmet don't force me to do something that is designed to CYA.
So you personally have seen what, maybe 1/1000 of a percent of all riders. At most. And because you've never witnessed an accident or injury, they don't happen? And we laugh at ostriches. You might spend a day in an emergency room and learn what's really going on in the world around you.
