I think this is a growing trend, due to the increasing popularity of camping. To me, it is a sign of a too busy campground, that can pick and choose by camper age.
I don't want to camp next to an old piece of junk either, but there are some very nice rigs that are more than 10 years old.

Some of the newer RV Park restrictions. You must buy a debit card for their park W/Ds for longer term renters. Supossedly can't use W/D in your own RV.
