my experience is just the opposite
i think every single LED in each strip is still working
and just as bright as the day i installed them
will be 2yrs in October
5 meter strip 5050 LEDs
(3) 15" strips = approx 1200 lumens
I cleaned the metal parts of the fixture with acetone
and stuck the strips to the fixture using only the self stick on back of the strip
on ends i added a drop of 'gluesmith' high bond glue, because of the weight of the connector and wiring
this allowed the fixture to be a good heat sink
using sticky foam tape or other thick glues, insulates the strip and causes the leds to get hot
i keep late hours the one just over my shoulder is on many hours everynight, and also the light over kitchen counter serves as a night light is on all night
