The higher the speed rating the greater the resistance to heat buildup! We all know heat buildup is the great killer of tires.
Question on your Carlisles, had the been run before at or above the ST speed of 65 mph. I can guarantee I will never tow my 5er at 106 mph, but read all the time people pushing their ST’s at 65 to 70.
Personally I believe that ST tires are far inferior to an LT even if the ST has a higher speed rating.
