- traveylinExplorerI towed a 2003 Colorado flat behind but had to have a drive shaft disconnect installed. It was a royal pain in the but and not recommended. I now have a 2012 Colorado 4x4 that is great to tow. Drug it to Homer Alaska and back last year. Put the transfer case in neutral, take the key out, tow bar to base plate hookup, tail lite wire connection and go. Its lite enough to be within GVW limitation and avoid the aux braking issue. Base plate bolts directly to heavy steel frame, not unibody thin skin

It would really help if we knew the year, transmission, 2 or 4 wheel drive.
From FMCA. 2017 model
1. Only four-wheel-drive vehicles with a two-speed transfer case that has a Neutral and four-wheel-drive low setting can be towed four wheels down.
Best check your manual for recreational towing.
OH, then you would have to add a base plate, Lights and brake.
