Thanks a million for all your feedback and suggestions. I did find BringFido.com website and went through the hotels detailed there. Found them Super 6 Schiller at $64.99/night plus tax, and Scott on front desk was oh so helpful on "don't go there, go here etc" for cheaper parking in DT Chicago. Daughter said after they arrived a day earlier yesterday, he was also wonderful with tips and tricks in person.
Report from first night last night was "thanks mum, love the hotel, great to have air conditioned room, and I'm going to shampoo my hair twice" (LOL). Then late last night close to midnight I got this imessage "Was a very very good night :) we had lots of fun and did lots of exploring. The water is absolutely beautiful, Luna had a great swim, wonderful dinner on waterfront, explored pier. We just getting back to our hotel now xoxo".
So mum and the caring rv.net forum members have come to the rescue of a continuing great vacation yet again for these late 20 and early 30's folks. Yep they'll be "the kids" till I'm 6ft under!
Thanks to you all.
PS: FWIW, and might interest some on how energetic we all once were when limited time to travel due to work: Future son-in-law really did an awesome conversion of the horse box and grooms area into a mini kitchen set up with fridge and mini generator etc, but no air conditioning. Also has it's own "loo" onboard. Don't think they considered just how humid and hot it is out on the East versus west mountainous area we live in generally (LOL).
They left last Thursday night from Alberta, boondocked in Babb MT, did Glacier on Fri, then boondocked south of Ennis. Did Yellowstone and onto Cody for late night Rodeo on Saturday and stayed Wallyworld there (told it's the most beautiful set up WM for dry camping ever, with sprinklers on grass areas etc etc LOL). Sunday they explored around Cody and lake time and did dinner show early evening and then drove on to Sheridan to O/N. Monday explored DT historic Sheridan areas, then on to Occidental Hotel look see Butch Cassidy/Sundance Kid in Buffalo, then lake time enroute to Spearfish fish hatchery to then Mt Rushmore seen in daylight and lit up at 9.40pm. Boondocked on NFS land so on Tuesday morning did BearCountryUSA, then Wall Drugs, then stopped at Chamberlain Boat ramp area on Missouri River = awesome swimming time again. Then drove on to City Fair Grounds passed Worthington near Blue Edge to dry camp. Wednesday went to Sioux Falls to explore the park and Japanese gardens and waterfalls to then heavy drive to Chicago where they got there yesterday afternoon. Makes me tired just typing this LOL, yet that's how we used to travel with a young family during the heavy working years LOL.
