Can I ask why you want to go to Chicago?
Besides it not being RV friendly there really is nothing great to see there. Born and raised in Chicago and all there is of interest is the Museum of science and industry and the Museum of Natural History, which by the way all big cities have the same thing.
Putting the RV friendly part to the side (lots of cities suffer from that issue;)) I wuvvvvvvvvvvvv Chitown! Used to visit Charlie Trotter's place ever opportunity my mouth got. Mourned his death mightily. The boat tour(s) that emphasize the amazing architecture along the RiverWalk. The planetarium with an ethos different from the one I grew up seeing regularly (Hayden's). Yes, of course the Field's Museum.
Heck I spend more time being a stereotypical tourist there than here which makes perfect sense since familiarity breeds massive amts of contempt and all. I'm fine with not visiting more than the base of the Statute of Liberty since my 6th grade school trip; the man's badge of honor is he's never entered the Guggenheim, MOMA or Frick but err already told him NOT to boast about THAT to DGD:. Spending one's waking life with a caveman is good enuf for one generation :D;).
