Not sure what you mean about "dealing with todes" If you have a 5th wheel, you have to deal with hooking up the 5th wheel to a truck. We have been RVing for over 30 years and have never owned anything but a motorhome and have towed a vehicle for over 20 years. We have no interest in a 5th wheel, never owned a truck and don't want one now.
We prefer having all our living space in the driving unit (don't have to exit a truck in the rain to access a bathroom in the 5th wheel). Also, as we get older we don't want to deal with the steps in a 5th wheel.
Seems to us that the ultimate use of the RV is a major factor in a decision. If you want to head south and sit in an RV park for 3 months in the winter, than a 5th wheel makes some sense. Or if you already own a truck that can pull a 5th wheel. Otherwise a motorhome makes more sense to us.
We have known folks who have moved from a motorhome to 5th wheel and vice versa, so it does happen. "Different strokes for different folks" I guess. Good luck!
