We take gallons for cooking and drinking and have bought the 2 gallon with a spigot that you put on counter. My camper is old and I have no idea how the tank was treated before me. I did give it a HEAVY dose of Clorox when I bought it. BTW, the white RV hoses don't give water a bad taste IMO. It's what the CG offer that is sometimes not so good in the taste and smell department.
