I have never used any kind of soap or degreaser on any grill I've used in my entire life and I never will. I don't like my burgers tasting like soap. Nor will I use a hose as it won't have any effect anyhow (but I do like the pressure washer idea).
I preheat on high for 10 minutes and do the same after I'm done cooking. This will burn off most everything, as evidenced by the smoke. I will scrape as best as I can as needed. That's it.
After each cooking I wire brush the grate. (X2 on this)
