Cleaning your AC Filter

Let's all just take the filter out of our engine intake system. I'll be it flows more air thus more horsepower, at least for a little while. Sarcasm sign on.

Sure glad this was posted. Last thing I thought of, the filters. Well I cleaned ours and boy after 2 years the needed it.

I think maybe there are different types of filters for different types of RV air conditioners.

On my TT the only filter is on the inside of the TT and it's just a thin one. As someone said you can see through it. It doesn't block the flow at all. It also only seems to catch the biggest pieces of dirt.

You can purchase a whole bag of this type of filter for household room AC's. I just cut a new one and replace mine once a year. It's so cheap it's not worth washing out.

Care about how it looks? You can build a little frame to accept a much bigger filter.

Idea being much better filtration with better flow.

All of the replies have to do with cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. I get it. My question was more about air flow, which in my trailer is significantly stronger with the filter out.

I am not that sensitive.

I have a spare set, so I swap out the dirty with clean. Then clean and dry the dirty ones and they are ready for the next swap out

I do the same.

Shoot I keep meaning to build a better filter.

My, my...stupid.

We washed our several times over time but finally the heat pump pulled part of the degraded or worn out filter up inside. Bought cheap filters and one three part very fine filtration filters for room type acs to cut up fit. Didn't work too well.CW and others didn't have any so ordered two oem types from CW?. A bit better grade and thicker items. Quieted down the heat pumps too. Most or all of the filtration occurs in one corner of the filter. I cannot understand not making the units to utilize the full filter and the grate which fits over it.
Getting tired of maintainance on every trip. So far $7,000.00. Next Coach if there is one a hard look as to quality and sevicability, including filters change...and a house filter on dash intake.
