Close call last night

Staying in eastern GA last night and some storms came through. This rig is so quiet we had no idea. Went to leave this morning and I noticed some spanish moss hanging off the roof. Climbed the ladder to remove it and as I look over the edge on to the top of our roof... my jaw drops.

A 30' long by 4" round tree had come down onto the side of the trailer! Had to weigh at least 100 lbs because it took some strength to lift and pivot it off the trailer.

I can feel where it hit the roof, the wood is dented a little but the roof membrane has no punctures and there is no sign of any other damage.

Really close call!

    We are in central Fla on east coast. We got 7 inches here last night. Cedar Creek up the road now has water to his back jacks. CG owner knocked on his door this a.m. and told him he would have to pay more next month as he now has a lake view.
    Everyone was warned to be wary as all the ponds are full and we have an alligator here who goes thru the culverts to get to different ponds.

    Watching recorded TV the scroll was all about tornado watches.. I am in S.E. GA, (Western Townsend/Dairen area 3 miles from Darien Mall) No danger of that happening where I am,,,, No trees tall enough to fall on the RV,, Car yes, RV no.

    Some days, i am glad of that.. Other days, Not so happy. Did not even have major wind here.

    The rain muffling the sound is entirely possible. The way it rained here, it could have.

    We don't drink. In fact the tree fell on the bunkroom slide and side where my two year old sleeps. I am sitting here in the other room with the SNF on mute because he will hear it and get up but he didn't stir at all last night.

    I just can't explain how shocked I was to find this tree lying against/ on the rig and we had no freaking idea. Here I have always assumed that if the storm was bad enough we would hear it and get up... yep that idea has changed :).

    Maybe it was raining so hard at the time that it muffled the sound?

    What type of sleeping elixer did you have before going to bed, & how much of it?

    We can easily hear squirrels & birds on our roof too. Don't let a walnut fall on it or a twig.

    Seriously amazing. It is a small builder that focuses on rigs for the oil patch. More house than trailer. I was amazed we didn't hear or feel it.

    I can hear leaves blowing on my roof. Making note of your coach 'cause I want a quiet one.

    X-2 I hear squirrels, birds, and acorns sound like someone dropping bowling balls.;)

    Hope you took pictures. You may need them for an insurance claim, if you have some hidden damage, like a cracked or broken roof strut .

    Glad your OK, I can hear squirrels running on my roof! You must really be heavy sleepers.....or had some really good evening drinks!
