Soon I need to buy a container of white gas at Walmart. I haven't check price but in the past their price is crazy. Many moons ago I remember when i was a boy, Dad stopped by gas station to fill up white gas. Usually behind of station. Anyway now day you don't see that anymore. Is there any kind of gas which is same as white gas? What about denatured alcohol? Thank for your time!

Either use the can of fuel, or change over to propane stove and lantern.

I bought LAMP OIL at Local Hardware store last year to use with my two wick type hanging lanterns.. I still use my lanterns as a night light hanging on tree lamp holder which burn all night long.Haven't bought WHITE GAS in a long time. I still see the WHITE SOCKS still available at WALMART but never really looked for the white gas. Roy Ken

In the 60's I had. 54 ford that used "white gas" you can use any unleaded fuel in these old laterns. I have one from the early 70's that I have been using unleaded in since then. Every so often I add some Seafoam to it to keep it running clean.

Buy the Coleman fuel. That is the fuel that is properly used in a Coleman lantern. The generator in the fluid fuel lamp is designed to operate on the Coleman fuel. I have a Coleman stainless steel lantern
that is about 50 years old that still works like a champ. I have had to replace the generator and the pump leather.

I would buy the Coleman fuel. Maybe a little high but a gallon last a long time.

I have two of those old lanterns and two old Coleman stoves, all bought new in late 50's and early 60's, but have not used either in years.

The Coleman fuel is the best and per unit is less costly(usually) than the disposable propane bottles, it also burns brighter than propane and will work at lower temps.

Have one and use it all the time. It's all my Scout Troop uses as well.
