Coming out of Storage tonight

Well, was supposed to be yesterday.... Wife, i, our 4 month old, and dog will be heading out for the weekend, a first camping trip for our new family member.

As i'm sure, beaten to death, is a good battery charge attainable by simply plugging in, or am i just way better off to remove both batteries and charge them one by one with a charger?

I'm simply running 2 12v in parallel.

  • Your onboard converter should be capable of bring the batteries back to full power in short order.
Heres a tip: Pull the negative cable from the battery when you store it. With no phantom draw, the batteries will stay in a near 100% state for months at a time. If, IF the batteries are still good.
  • If there is sufficient time, shore power thru the converter does a good job. But I try to separately charge each battery with a stand alone charger a couple of times a year to bring them to a full charge.
  • Connect it up & plug it in. Our turn is next week. It has been sitting unattended since last november. The drill for us, since we can't move right in & take it away on our arrival night, is to hook up the battery, plug the shore power in at 20 amp outlet in the storage shed & turn the fridge on so that it gets an overnight cooling for us to come back the next day.

It usually only takes the battery an hour to top off again. AGMs don't lose much in storage.
  • I always use shore power to charge up the batteries while parked. Never have used a separate charger.
