I had an issue with a boat trailer where the attaching points changed and my custom-made tie-down straps came up short. By adding a Shackle
I was able to get them to reach. You'd want to check the rating of the shackles and lock the shackle pins.
A "French Link" should be OK too.

Just don't use anything that has a loop which is simply formed with a bend like this S-Hook
The constant tugging will open them up and lose the load.
