It's really simple: Unless there is a means to disconnect the driveline from the transmission, driven wheels must be off the ground. This is a universal truth for recreational-towing all vehicles.
So, if the Mazda is RWD, then a dolly under the front will not work without a driveline disconnect. If the Mazda is FWD, then a dolly under the front wheels is fine.
