Connecting TT to 30a plug on Honda Genny

We just bought the 2000w Honda genny and was under the impression you could plug the TT directly into the 30a outlet on the genny. What do we need to connect it? We already have the dogbone to connect it to the house.
  • I have two Honda 2000's that I run in parallel with the add on kit. It has a regular 30 amp RV plug on it. The "Companion" units were not available when I got my generators. If you only have one generator (2000) you can only get about 15 amps out which will probably run just about anything in the trailer except the air conditioner(s). Don't try to run the microwave and hot water heater on electric at the same time.
  • Is that 30 plug on the gen 120 volts or 240 volts. If it is 240 volts you wouldn't want to plug your rv into it anyway since the rv is only 120 volt.

  • My Honda 3000i has the 30a plug, but you need an adapter for the RV plug to fit, but it's a 30a plug none the less. I can plug the gen switch cable directly to the Honda for powering the house (specific circuts only).

  • The Honda Companion model has a 30 amp plug but you still need a adapter to get the 30 amp RV plug. Unless you have two generators in parallel you still only get 15 amps.
  • You can't get 30A out of a 2000w generator, so I am guessing you have 1 15A duplex receptacle which will supply approximately 15A more or less. So you can use your 30A to 15A adapter and expect to run whatever up to a maximum of a 15A draw. If you try to run over the 15A draw, you may damage some equipment.
