Consignment Sales Experiences

Anyone selling had a good one and with who. We wasted most of our Friday after evergreen RV contacted us about a craigslist ad, and everything is pretty straight forward in the ad, until the estimator got on the phone knowing what the ad said and then low balled it almost 20k below our price and 34 k below average nada.....this is the second time (PPL was first)this has happened????? should I post no consignments? has anyone had a good experience buying from them?

don't just bad mouth give me something to work with, or this thread will get cut off by the moderators.

thanks for your input

  • We've sold a lot of stuff, including a pickup and a 5er on CL.....just as with ANYONE that is contacting you about the sale, you have to determine if they're on the up and up (including dealerships). Saying "no commercial contacts" on the ad may or may not help. Just laugh 'em off if they contact you. :)
  • Thank you DianneOK, I was so concerned I'd get a bunch a bad mouthing I forgot to change to a appropriate topic............anyway, I guess what I will do is put a no commercial contacts request in the add......it wasn't about online sales it was about consignment sales companies. thanks all

  • We had no luck with several online organizations. They all appeared to be more interested in getting the listing fee than actually selling our coach.
After getting nothing but phone calls from online sales organizations wanting more listing fees for over a year I took the coach to Motorhome Specialists in Alvarado, TX. Told them what I wanted in my pocket after the sale. Took them less than month to find a buyer. Could not have been easier!
  • Excellent consignment experience with AlexanderRV in Smyrna Delaware. Told them what I wanted. They then sell it for as much as they can get. No set commission. They just make sure you get the amount you want. Sold within a week!
  • We had a bad experience last December. Estimated selling price was $28,500. After 5 months with no action, we got a bid for $14,000. We really didn't want to get it back, so we counter-offered at $16,500 and it was accepted. I was very unhappy with the way it was handled and I would NEVER consider another consignment.
  • No experience with online consignment sales, but we had our MH on consignment sale at a local RV dealership years ago, and it took about 4-5 months to sell it. (It was older & small, more of a specialty item). Just FYI. Don't necessarily expect a quick sale - you're lucky if you get one.
  • I Had a guy wanted to buy it right away, wanted an account # to send a down payment !!! Man did I run away from that scam as fast as I could. you have to be careful with these buyers. I took my to a local consignment dealer. told him lowest price I would take plus his commission and don't call me with any thing else.He has had it a week , but I don't have the hassle of talking to people and doing test runs and waiting on no shows. so wish me luck and u too.
  • I have mine up on craigslist and Rvtrader and RVT and it doesn't matter they all will lowball you and promise the moon, be patient and sell it on you own for the money you want as long as is it is in reason. I did put don't contact with commercial interests may have helped.
  • My experience with Craig's List has been always getting full price offers for our TT. They even says they will have someone come pick up the TT sight unscene. For some reason they won't come themselves or let me deliver the TT.

So far I haven't sold the TT and have stop using Craig's List.
