Controlling Sway Stresses Trailer Frame?

Let's say I have a travel trailer with a BAD sway problem. Rather than fix the problem, I decide to "fix" the problem with a Propride or Hensley.

Even though the trailer is now "fine," underneath all that it is still TRYING to sway. The Hensley/Propride is stopping the trailer from getting out of control, but the trailer is still slamming side-to-side against the sway control.

How long before something breaks?

  • Don't know about something breaking, but I brought a new 2011 Sierra TT that swayed really bad & I couldn't get it level when setting it up, if I got the front level (side to side) then the back was not level, and the same thing if the back was level the front wasn't. I traded it off for another TT that pulls great & I can get it level on both ends. I believe the frame was bent from the factory with Sierra.
  • Don't know how any one could answer that question. But I do agree. Fix the sway problem, BEFORE you add sway control. I'm sure we have all seen the results of the sway bandaide coming off on the highway.
