I really liked Louis L' Amour. Met him at a book signing in Cortez, CO. What a story teller!
Every gun control advocate's nightmare and argument. If you're a "trained, responsible gun enthusiast", I would assume you're pretty upset about this. - Turtle_n_PeepsExplorerMaybe Andy was right to have Barney have his one bullet put away in his pocket.
One of the reasons I stay at Wal-Mart. I've never seen a shoot out at one. :B - coolbreeze01ExplorerThat will go down in the annals of stupid ways to get fired..........
- IAMICHABODExplorer IIHow bout the local news report......

Seems they DID fire in the air.
This camp ground is usually a nice and quiet camp ground. Never have seen any problems.

Typical media hype.. "GUNFIRE" it screams in the headline, but when you get into the article they drew their guns and waved them around but no shots were fired.

The only thing fired is the two deputies (Well suspended pending the outcome of the investigation and recommendation of the disciplinary review board)
Lets hope it results in loss of badge and gun.
As for the quite hours and park security comment... I'm sure park security TRIED to enforce. but who had the guns? NOT the security officer. - doxiemom11Explorer IIRent a cop --- that security person on duty may have been a workamper. As a regular civilian, I don't get paid enough or volunteer hours to get in the middle of something like that. Call 911 - they are equipped to deal with this, I'm not.

Never mind the cops. The security guy at the campground should be fired for not enforcing the quiet hour rules before it escalated into gunfire.
Nope.
The security guy (if there was one) was obviously the only guy that knows CA doesn't have a.....
"Stand Your Ground Law"..:S
As the article noted (previous incidents), the current LA Co. Sheriff needs the title "Former" in front of his name along with the deputies involved.
That may come to fruition soon..:W

You might want to do some research in the SYG laws for CA.
As I recall, not only does CA have such a law, but it provides that after you frighten the perp away, you can still shoot him even though he is running away. Look it up.
As for the camping incident, it is quite simply inexcusable, period! - weathershakExplorerWhere is Chuck Norris when you need him.
