Yup the bed taxes normally only applied to hotels is also applied to CG's in Florida! They figure you are sleeping there albeit in your OWN bed so they charge bed taxes. :R
I've stayed in private campgrounds (aka RV resorts) in FL, during tourist season, and have yet to pay a 'bed tax'. Now, admittedly, I've only stayed in one or two, and I mostly try to find state parks, but sometimes you have to compromise.
It was 'South of I4' as well, but maybe not south enough to get the bed tax.Mike
In the small CG's I have seen them combine them with CG rate and not separate it out. That is why I asked cause the rate was higher than advertised once I checked in.
Check out this Florida rate chart by county and state for what the state tax and bed taxes are for each county!
One is 12.50% for bed tax PLUS 7% state! :E And we wonder why CG rates are so high here.
>BTW this chart is from 2015. the Florida Gov has signed several increases since them!
Below is a chart of the 2015 state and local tax rates imposed on sleeping accommodations by county, which inter-county exceptions provided at the end of the list.http://www.floridasalestax.com/Florida-Tax-Law-Blog/2015/January/2015-FLORIDA-HOTEL-TAX-RATES-BY-COUNTY.aspx
