You all must be staying in fancier motels than I do, or visiting more popular places than I've visited, or something. I think I've only been on one or two trips where I can say with certainty that camping in my class C was less expensive than driving my car and staying in a motel. The accommodations are often less expensive (sometimes only a little less), and the food if one cooks for oneself, but the fuel is considerably more.
A good bit of the time, there aren't any motels or hotels to be had where I've camped, so it's hard to make too close of a comparison then.
Prolly so. A oceanfront room at Myrtle Beach is well over $200.00 per night in the summer, condos for all of us are $4 to 5K per week, a room near the Historic district in Charleston SC is closer to $300.00 per night. A room in Boone NC is close to $200.00, and the same for Blowing Rock. And unless you stay well out of town. Cherokee is up there as well.
BUT, I can stay in a full hookup CG just out of Boone for $35.00. And I can stay on the Blue Ridge Parkway for $16.00. I can also stay at Myrtle Beach for $70.00. All peak season rates. That is less any way we spin it.
