Regular camping in our 5th wheel averages about $100 per day with fuel and site fees, food and stuff we do. It does not include maintenance on truck or camper.
I and several friends have tracked the cost/day of camping including as you did fuel, site cost, food, dining, entertainment etc. All of us come in between 80 and 100 per day. we tend to stay at one campground for mulitiple days, sometimes a week or more, so the fuel cost goes down and we do use FS campgrounds and senior rates.
Now, the biggest reason we travel via trailer is that many of the places we want to go have either limited or no places to stay nearby other than campgrounds, rv park etc. And personally I don't like spending the evening in a hotel, rather be outside around a campfire.
For us, it's the way we want to travel in the U.S. so that's what we do.
