To whomever said "I can park where ever I want and move on if I don't like it". See if you can camp on Times Square, Lake Shore Drive, South Beach or downtown Chicago.
I guess this points out the difference in expectations when one is "vacationing"? I've stayed in all those places, and they're OK. Too bright, noisy, crowded, and expensive for my tastes. And I'd much rather walk outdoors and see beavers at work in their pond, than Navy Pier. I can ALWAYS camp on the outskirts of a town and drive in to see the sights; but it's pretty hard to stay downtown and hear a loon at night.
However, I'm not helping the Chambers of Commerce by camping in the boondocks, so it's good that LOTS of people DO support the cities.
One of favorite things is to listen to the Loon's and wolves in the evening and seeing the star's and Northern lights. One of the reasons I bought a RV to get away from the city. Not to many Motels in the middle of nowhere. People have different needs for vacation, so it what works for you. Cost wise for me the RV is more economical to travel for extended periods of time.
Even if it wasn't cheaper for me I would gladly pay the difference to have my RV.
