We always get results in 4 hrs. Hospital lab is onsite. Fax to home Coumadin clinic. The review the protime and call the cell number. Our secret is to get in the hospital early in the morning before the daily snowbird rush. Never go on a Friday as some locations close early. Have a long term personal relationship with the home Coumadin clinic. If for some reason, a doctor or dentist suggests going off Coumadin, call Cleveland Clinic and ask the cardiologist at Cleveland to call the local doctor. This is called forced inservice education.
