CPAP Machines RV's

I dis something very similar in our fiver. It has worked well except for one night when the battery died, the charge fuse in the truck was blown.

Something I cannot deal well without, I have to have my CPAP sleep every night or else I revert to a zombie.

What really presented an issue for me was remote area hunting, I regularly go on big game hunts and most every one is in a very remote area with no power available and that has limited me greatly until now.

I recently purchased 2 Li-Ion battery packs (each weigh under 2 pounds) and each pack will run my machine (no heated humidifier) for a night (8 hours) with a little juice left over and I can charge the packs either with 110 volts or 220 volts, 50 or 60 cps. or via a 12 volt power plug in a vehicle

They have made my adventure lifestyle much simpler. I can actually spike camp miles from any power source and still get a good night's sleep. Imperative when hiking and remote hunting.

Been using a PAP machine for over 15 years now.

I bought a 1000 watt PSW inverter for a fishn buddy and wondered how long it would run his Cpap. Thanks for posting. This helps

In the RV, the PSW works fine. On battery I cannot run my S8 direct because the polarity inside the machine is reversed (from the factory), so I use a 150 watt mini inverter to power the machine with. I plug my Li battery into the inverter and use the 110 volt power cord to run the machine plugged into the Inverter. If I had know of that short fall ahead of time, I would have a different, more 12 volt friendly machine but it is what it is. CPAP machine are very expensive to purchase outright.

I actually got away a bit cheaper than your link. My mini inverter was 45 bucks.

Res Med even warns users not to plug the S8 into a 12 volt power supply negative ground, as it will cause immediate failure of the machine. For over a grand, I don't want to find out.

Should be a non issue on even a single Group 24 deep cycle so long as he don't use his heated humidifier, that is what sucks the juice, heating the water. I run mine passive in the RV and in the boonies.

I heard they can run ok on a modified sine wave inverter but I felt safer using a pure sine wave inverter and paying a few dollars more.

I think mine says 80 watts on the power supply.....so you have WAY more inverter capacity than needed.....which might be wasting some battery power and it is the battery capacity that you should be worrying about.

P.S. Res Med now has a unit that runs directly on 12 V. I have one. With the appropriate power cord, it works fine.

I have been camping using my CPAP(Resmed S8 + Humidaire 3i) since 2008. I need the humidification and almost exclusively dry camp. My solution was 2 Group 27 batteries connected to a 300/600W pure sine wave inverter to power the CPAP. When we had a 5th wheel the batteries were stored under the bed. With the truck camper they fit nicely inside a "hamper" next to the bed. I connect the batteries to a charger/maintainer so they are fully charged for my next camping trip as the RV is parked next to the house and shore power plugged in. I can get four nights of sleep out of the two batteries without needing a recharge. If I camp longer, I use our Honda EU2000i generator plus a battery charger that I carry to recharge.
Yes I know that the CPAP can be powered directly from the batteries without an inverter, but you can't do that and use the humidifier.
And for you willy-nilly's out there, I provide adequate ventilation to the batteries when they are being charged.

If you are paying over a grand for a resmed cpap you might try CPAP.com who will wholesale price the machines for about 450$. I installed two 12 batteries under the bed. The resmed has a 12 volt plug with current limiter that plugs in to a liter socket I installed. Charging the batteries is with a 12 volt, scooter charger that again plugs in when in use. Good for about 3 nights use. Recharge in hrs.

I actually have 4 different machines so needing another one is probably not in the cards. The only one I bought outright was the S8 and I bought that from Wright and Filippis about 10 years ago or just when the card readers came about and I think I paid at that time 700 bucks or so and my BC reimbursed me most of it. All my other machines I got through my hospitalizaation and from family. The rest of the family wated the newest and best so I got theirs, no issue with me.

I get my consumables from either cpap.com or the cpap store, which ever is less or on sale and I direct submit to Meidcare BC/BS and get reimbursed.

The S8 is fine now that I have a pair of BPS Li-Ion packs, charger and cables. I'm good for 3 days in the pucker bush hunting.

In the Rv, the PSW Inverter does the job and I'm a happy camper... So is my wife, I don't snore so she can sleep...lol
