Depending upon how it is split, you could take an opposing color of floor tile or linoleum and lay it right on top of the cracked area. Glue the edges of the crack down to make sure they are flat first. Lay new on top of it and glue the corners to the linoleum under it. Then take metal trim, like used for door thresholds or transition pieces between rooms with different kinds of floors, and fit an edge to go around the new on top, making it framed in. This will give the appearance of a medallion in the middle of your floor. You might add a couple more in different spots, only smaller so one by itself won't looks so odd. It's just and idea and a very easy quick fix.
