Cracker Barrels in North Georgia

the Cartersville and Adairsville area along I-75 are having trouble with auto break ins.

the local news have warned drivers about this problem when you park in the rear where r.v.'s generally park.

don't let our North Georgia criminals ruin your trip.
  • Wait a minute, those two Cracker Barrels are close to the interstate, and the local news is postulating that the thieves may be even be out-of-staters roaming the interstates and hitting restaurants near the exits. This may not be a local Georgia, or even just a Cracker Barrel thing. Although, Cracker Barrels surveillance video was to grainy to identify who the thieves were.

These appeared to be "Smash and grabs" where the car windows were broken and items were taken from the cars. It's always a good idea to not leave anything that might entice an opportunist thief in plain view in your parked and unattended car.
  • CB's are one of my most expensive over nigth stops dinner and breakfast for 2 a lot more than $25
  • Didn't realize the only reason an RV would stop at CB would be to overnight. Also, its a a shame that elitist RV'ers feel the need to berate an RV'er that chooses to overnight at CB or other non-campground location.
  • If they know they are breaking in, so much so it makes the news, Where is law enforcement?
BTW, no bash of law enforcement as I work with some of the best

Another reason in Ga to pay as little as 25 bucks for a safe campground on a lake and with good folks with you. I never will bring a gun with me on our cross country travels and will hope to never stay anywhere but campgrounds. My secondary fear is a loose cannon with a handgun thinking he is Matt Dillon saving the West. Good luck with that, I always fear a round going through the fiberglass and hitting an innocent.

Passport America, we stayed at a place for 12 dollars,

it was not fancy but it was safe.

If you can afford a RV , your not Dirt poor.
  • To clarify and off topic, I have only used CB' two times in 23 years. All other nights traveling are spent in a campground. I could not get a camp site those two times and was grateful for the opportunity to get off the road.

Stopping in a rest area for a few minutes have had some interesting things happen, too.
