Crazy Horse S. Dakota

Looking for information from workampers who have worked at Crazy Horse in South Dakota. Did you enjoy it?, would you return? Please share your experience, I have some friends headed that way. Thank you.
  • You do stay at the Heritage Campground. There is a 6 dollar a day charge I think. you also have to buy your shirts. Kinda weird, but not a big deal. It wasn't perfect, but it was better than a lot of places I have read about on here. Again, if we were into going back to places again and again, we might go back there, but that is not why we retired and bought the RV. We want to see as much as we can while we are able. I think we will end up doing more volunteering than working jobs, we are also not fulltiming, if we were it might be more attractive as well.
  • When you work at Crazyhorse S.D.do you stay at Heritage Campground
any comments on it and do you pay for your own electric?

I know Phil and Rudee. We were there last year too. We enjoyed it, might go back in a couple years. We just don't like doing the same again. There is alot more to that place than I thought there was. Really pretty interesting.
Your friends wouldn't happen to be Henry and Terri would it?

No, not Henry and Terri, but thanks for the information.

  • Our friends, Phil and Rudee, worked there last summer and I believe are headed back. If I remember correctly, they loved it. Read about their experience here:

That's a link that starts with their arrival. If you read on to the beginning of June, that is when they set up at Crazy Horse and begin their job.

  • Can't really help you but that sure sounds like an interesting opportunity.
