Create a Breeze vs Fantastic Fan

Thanks pnichols. Unfortunately it will not work for us as you need to plug it into a 12 volt socket (not one in the bedroom) and we would not have anywhere in the bedroom to set it and would have to mount it like the other RVer in your link has done. It would probably work for my daughter bunk as shes near the cab and there are a couple outlets there.

But we would prefer the professionally installed units in the vents. They are out of the way and won't need any extra mounting and storage.

As some of you may know, the Fan-Tastic Vent company also makes another superb portable 3-speed reversible 12 volt fan for RV's that moves the same huge volume of air at the same low battery draw when plugged into any 12 volt receptacle in your RV - here it is:

We can even use our's outside at a picnic table or sitting under the awning in hot windless weather sipping a cool drink. I made a 12 volt extension cord for it so we can use it outside the RV by plugging it into our outside 12 volt receptacle.

So as not to hijack this thread, why not open up a new topic on your problem. Lots of folks have experience with the Fantastic fans.

Describe better what you mean by won't run. Does the lid go up? stuff like that.

Would it not be working on shore power?

I think the fan works on 12 volt. So if your battery was bad, then perhaps the fan would not work?

I am still new to this, but I am not sure how the Fantastic Fan works. I have a 2006 Grand Junction 5ver with the Fantastic Fan with a thermostat. On our last trip we had a battery go bad and as some have mentioned in previous post the odor was intense. At first I thought it was from the tanks, but thanks to the previous posts we narrowed it down to the battery. However, when I needed to "clear" the air I could not get the " fan" to come on. What do I need to do to get the Fantastic Fan to come on when I need it?

Hope you can make it down. We are hoping to be able to explore more places with this class c than we could with the TT.

Might get to do something this fall down your way... Still on my bucket list. My off-road camper feels right at home down your way...

Being a 12VDC fan motor you should be able to make the fan motor rotate in the other direction and allow it to blow into the trailer... Just reverse the 12VDC polarity with a DPDT switch from Radio Shack.

We have the fantastic fan over the bed and we use ours mostly in the exhaust mode where it pulls cool shaded air through a couple of open windows in the other part of the trailer. Love our fan.... I never have looked-up how many amps it pulls from the battery but is on probably 24/7 in our off-road POPUP camper when camping off the power grid.

I can unzip the window flaps on both sides of our off-road POPUP just a few inches where rain doesn't get inside and it sits this way for the whole trip.
