We're gonna head out full-time in 1 month (can't wait!). I've got a discover card that gets lousy points and most camp grounds won't take discover anyways. I have a visa but it's tied to my banking ...

Yes they do, make sure you get the VISA 5% card. I applied on line and got the wrong card, called and they cancelled the wrong card and sent me a new correct 5% off for gas card. I use it for ALL purchased. I do have other cards that I use once a year to keep them active.
PenFed Bank is also very good for online banking. No fees.
I also have my stick home mortgage with PenFed. I refinanced with no closing cost, and a very low rate a few years ago. Most was done over the phone and internet with a notary coming to my home to do the closing.
Since they are a credit union, there is some restrictions on joining.
