Despite what others are telling you, $1000.00 per month may not be a correct estimate for you. What you pay in highly dependant on personal preference things like comfort, security, amenities, etc that you require. Also, you may decide to try work camping. In our case, we easily come in under the $1,000.00 per month when we average our camp ground fees over a full year. We tend to work camp in the winter so $0 fees for about 6 months and travel in the summer. We’ve paid as high as $80.00 per night in Bend OR and FREE in Wally’s parking lots when we are just going down the road to get to some destination. I would say the typical price of camp grounds we go to is around $50.00 per night. State & national parks are less expensive but sometimes have no or few amenities. Another possibility is county or city parks. We find them to be less expensive and offer better amenities than state and fed parks.
As far as credit cards go, in our 7 years of full timing, we’ve found VISA/MC most accepted, Discover less accepted and AMEX rarely accepted. YMMV
