Anyone else had the pleasure of restringing one of these monsters?Like anything else, found the 'how to' online. Estimated half hour job it said. YEAH...RIGHT!!!! 4 hours of frustration later the job was done.Maybe half hour if you are familiar with the job & havea nice big table to lay the thing out on but not when it is a one off job & you are trying to do it across a couple of chairs indoors because it is raining.

I have done lots of them. It gets easier the more you do. You will get to do more if you use the blinds.

I did one once, I don't think I will do another one though. Next time one breaks I think I will go with mini blinds. For me they are much easier to use and no restringing. JMO

Much too frustrating...made me crazy...so when they go, we have been replacing them with - Cordless Pleated Shades from Home Depot.Custom order: size, color and transparency (we get the light blocking privacy ones). Work great, easy to swap out and much easier to operate. Like this:

Downtheroad, do the ones you get from HD also have the day/night feature?

I just had the strings on 2 blinds break. I looked at the video then took them to the blind shop and let them do it. Money well spent.

If you can catch them before the string breaks you can melt the frayed ends and weld them together, then pull the new string thru using the old.

Will definitely try that next time. Hope there won't be a next time- but I know better.

I have done several of mine. The first was pretty frustrating but they get easier. If you can catch them before the string breaks you can melt the frayed ends and weld them together, then pull the new string thru using the old.

When mine broke I just used a square knot and tied the string back together, and trimmed the excess off. Two things that I learned was don't over tighten the string by winding it around the little plastic knob, and check the ferrules that the string slides through. If the ferrule is out of the hole or the string is over tightened it will break.

Watched the video. Laid it out on the bed. It was not as hard as I feared.

I didn't find it all that hard. The 4 sting are a little difficult if you don't know how to capture the string and pull it out the correct hole. A shade long stick, some tape and a tiny croquet hook help a lot.

I'll be restringing ours this weekend. I bought the correct size/color cord on eBay. 100' for $10.95 delivered. eBay link.

I've gathered all the parts, including rubber bands, and some fine wire. Looks straight forward to me.

I call RV Mobile Repair.

They come out and repair them for me. They do so many it takes them nano minutes and it's done. No fuss, no muss while I sit having a cold one watching them.

Mine were all built wrong. Replaced with better string and properly positioned grommets. They may never fail again
