dead battery - Prodigy P2 flashing between "nc" and "c"

I went to get my truck out of the barn Saturday morning, and the battery was flat dead because I forgot to unplug the slide-in camper. Replaced the battery.

When I got in to start it up, the Prodigy was flashing between "c" and "nc". No trailer connected.

I started up the truck, and the display changed to "0.0."

Whenever I touch the brake pedal, the display reads "10."

Even after plugging in the trailer, it still insisted on applying "10" every time I touched the brakes.

I had to unplug the wiring harness from the truck to completely power down the controller before it would work right...

Any ideas?
  • So...is it working correctly now (after you unplugged it) and plugged it back in?
If so, I suspect that like a computer, it need to reboot to straighten itself out..

Maybe I'm confused by the problem and your question.
  • Unplugging and replugging is the standard way to reboot the device. I suspect your battery condition cause the circuits to malfunction and it just needed to reboot. If it continues to operate normally it is doing what is supporsed to do.
  • Yes, the controller "appears" to be working correctly again.

The question is, is it really?

Is it ok, or is it a ticking time-bomb that's waiting to go up in a cloud of smoke the second a small child darts out into the road in front of me while I've got 7 tons in back?
  • when the battery went dead.. the controller went back to default .. like when it came out of the box.. you just need to change the amps on the controller.

if you do not have the manual. you can download it from the factory.

    should be good to go.
