Dealer issue?

So went to pick up our brand new camper which we bought in November but left stored at the dealer for winter storage. Part of the deal was the dealer was going to remove all the stickers in the front of the camper including the factory ones and theres which had a sold sign our name on it etc. When I walked in I was expecting to see a shiny new camper again this was a brand new unit. What I saw as a camper that had stickers removed but all the sticky stuff and stains remained, when they washed the unit they left black streaks on it. I was so disappointed I was expecting the same treatment as when you buy a new car all polished and shiny. When I said something to the service manager he was indignant and said "well you know you got a great price its our internet special and we don't do much to them" He said he could see what they could do but it wouldn't be then but later in the day. Am I wrong on my expectations? By the way when we paid for it we told them that we would with hold $250.00 until we picked the unit up just to make sure we wouldn't have such a problem also we have it registered and have the plates can/should we hold that $$ until we pick it up as it was not done Friday afternoon and we have to go back. Am I unrealistic in expecting them to wash and make the camper look like we feel it should?
Your input would be appreciated.
  • I look at it as once the money has exchanged hands, the deal is done and the unit is yours. The decal agreement should have happened before you paid them, IMHO.

At last, a true statement about what to expect from their service departments.
  • I'm thinking that the dealer needs to step up and finish his part of the deal. Removing stickers means all of the sticker--not just the top leaving the glue residue. I question if it was washed as washing don't leave black streaks. Normal rain run off from roof causes black streaks. It should not matter if it was a "internet special." If part of the deal was sticker removal and a wash job then it should have been done and done correctly.

RV dealers are not like car dealers and a sparkling shinny waxed rig will vary between dealers. Some do and some don't. You may not have "shinny" in your specific deal. Randu
