Diabetic supplies , test strips /meters) while traveling

Since our mail order Rx supplier does not handle test strips/meters am looking for a pharmacy chain which would be available across America.

I initially thought that since Rightsource did not dispense prescription ordered diabetic supplies that Medicare did not cover them, have since found out that Medicare does cover them.

We will be between Tillamook & Salem this winter on volunteer stints.

Then Spring 2015 planning to take the Northern route over to Ontario, Canada, Ontario to visit, then on down to Richmond Virginia area, followed by going to Kansas, returning the northern route back to Washington or Oregon State.

And then in 2016 may settle down, who knows. Just taking it one step at a time.

So if anyone has traveled in these areas and knows a pharmacy chain which is in the areas I speak of, would appreciate sharing please.

Yes, have wondered about Walmart, as well as Walgreens.
  • I use CVS Pharmacy for prescription refills. Although not in all states (Oregon is one). They have many locations in many states. I can refill my prescriptions online and select a different store to pick them up. They have great service and accepts Medicare and other insurances. They also have CVS Caremark that ships. https://www.caremark.com/wps/portal
  • Who is your medicare supplement insurance carrier? DW has Kaiser and we do everything online and mail order. Never paid a dime for her supplies.

walmart has their own brand of strips for their meters. why do you need to get additional meters? with medicare there is a small co-pay for strips.

  • I not know about Canada but We used Walmart for test strips and meter. There is a brand that Walmart seemed to carry everywhere but I cannot remember the brand. I do not use test strips anymore as my diabetes was cured through gastric bypass surgery so I cannot remember
