Dicor Ultra Sealant System - Only TPO Roof Sealant Option?

As I've mentioned in other posts, I'm getting ready to put in a Fantastic fan in my trailer. I have a TPO roof. It seems the Dicor Ultra Sealant system is the recommended sealant for a TPO roof. I find it a bit ridiculous that the sealant is $12, but the primer is $35. Are there any other sealants out there that will work well for this application or do I need to buck up and spend another $50 on sealant?

  • Keystone confirmed for me that any silicone sealant will work fine on their TPO roofs.

I went to Camping World this morning to get the Ultra Sealant and all they had was the primer, which was AWESOME. After a call to Dicor and Keystone, both confirmed that the regular self leveling lap sealant would work fine on TPO and it didn't matter if it was the fleece backed or not.

I'm finally ready to install tomorrow. Wish me luck!

I contacted Dicor and they said for our 33' Class C that we would not need more than 6 tubes of the Ultra Sealant (we have TPO also) and the primer. I bought both online from Dyers. Was getting ready to do it and saw where they recommended I to be cleaned. So I ordered the Dicor rubber roof cleaner from Dyers. So far it was sent out three times. The first two times it was damaged during delivery. Spending $100-150 and doing it myself is saving $400 + that I was quoted to just do the roof....

You don't have to follow what they or anyone else says. I like to do what they advise. But that is just me.
  • Too protect your 2015 new trailer warranty I would contact the dealer/mfg and get their input as to the type of sealant(s) required as they will supply you with the trailers warranty.
Generally butyl tape is used first and excess squeezed out is removed. Then a self leveling sealant goes over screw heads and the joint.
  • Doesn't look like anyone has an answer. Try P.M. to "dougrainer" Certified Tech who has posted hundreds of answers to the forum. I would trust him.
  • I heard there was TPO with fleece backing and without. While checking the vent today, it seems that it has no fleece backing. Otherwise I'm not sure. The Keystone site just says 1 pc TPO roof.
  • I have used many a tube of Dicor lap and vertical sealant and never used a primer. I clean well and apply. Never had an issue. I have also used Proflex. I like the clear when not needing a self-leveling.

I notice that there are 2 types of TPO. Have you verified which type you have?
