Difference between RVing and Camping???

Simple:

If you set up a camp when you get there, you're camping.

If you bring the camp with you on wheels, you're RV'ing

To me, a real camper is a person who enjoys "roughing it" with a tent and cooking over a fire and using a gas or oil lamp, etc. they like being "in touch" literally, with the natural world.
an RVer is a traveler who likes to take some or a lot of his modern technology with him. an rver likes being out in the scenic areas of our world, and may be a hiker or biker or motorcycler or couch potato.
and then there are various combinations among us. :)

I tent camped for forty plus years till DW said, "No more". During that time I always wondered why people would come to a campground in a RV. Sold all the camping gear to a young couple. We now RV. We still hike, spent most of our time observing wildlife and much of it generally out of the rear window because we stay in areas that they occupy. We seldom do campfires unless the kids visit and roughing it is now 30 amp and we don't stay in RV Resorts.

Thank you all, now I get it. We camp throughout the summer in state parks, hiking, biking, sitting around the campfire. Then I guess we often RV when traveling. I know what you call it does not matter, but found it interesting. Thanks again!

We full time in our 5th wheel.

Sometimes we RV.......nice RV park with amenities and explore the local area sightseeing being tourists

Sometimes we camp.......remote campgrounds with no amenities and explore the local area

Sometimes we RV & Camp......generator, campfires, sitting around telling stories and watch TV---sleep on our tempur-pedic mattress

These kind of 'discussions' make me laugh. Like the family who complains about going to the 'RV resort' or 'campground' only to have their neighbor within inches of them, but they will go home on Sunday and live like that and accept it. Maybe we are all just looking for something different. I guess folks from these subdivisions can accept it Monday through Friday but on Saturday and Sunday they prefer to be in nature......

I work with a guy who told me once that I do not go camping because I have a motorhome. When I said why he told me I needed to spend more time with nature, in the trees. Through further conversation he told me that he could not keep his RV at his house because his home owners association would not let him keep it there. I asked him who owned the house. He also told me they get to choose the color of flowers he plants each spring.

Now I have more trees on my property in the woods as he would call than he has probably ever seen in his life. I live in what he would call the woods, on a dirt road, so we go to what some would call a resort to do something different. And I can keep my motorhome at my house without any rules.

I think what is most important is that people have fun, whether you are RV'ing, camping, glamping, tenting, whatever you call it, have fun. Just don't criticize others or try and tell them what they are or are not doing.

And one thing about camping(or glamping, or RV'ing) that I enjoy is being able to meet others and have fun, no matter what we call it.

We used to camp in a tent , now we RV in a fifth wheel..As already stated... Does not matter to me what it's called, it's just great to be doing whatever we are calling it!

We camp in the Mountains. We sit by the fire, cook over the fire, And only rarely go inside, only to sleep, and if dry camping. We use the CG restrooms. The camper is just that, a camper / tent on wheels.

However. We simi RV at the beach. We get sites with electricity, sewer and water. We shower in the TT. And maybe even watch the news, and weather. We still cook out side though. I don't want the cooking residue in the camper.

My definition: Utilities = RVing. (even if in a tent)

Really not necessarily any difference at all unless you want there to be. Full hook ups in manicured or concrete covered lots ifs generally considered rving, camping is usually considered to be somewhat rustic and involves a bit more interaction with nature. You can certainly do both in an rv
