Dimming LED Awning Lights?

Unplug and try them, assuming you don't have an inverter. If they light up, they are 12v.

Some LED lights are dimmable, some are not. You'll have to try it. They may flicker a lot when dimmed.

When I get my next trailer, even if it has the factory LEDs, I will be installing my own strip with controller under them. I like the fact that I can dim, change colors, or have a dance party (Hey, I am 40 going on 16!)

They are 12V and you can purchase a dimming module and install it or simple add a resistor is you want them permanently dimmed. Many of us have do this mod. A controller with remote can be purchased from Amazon or eBay for under $10.

Note that LED dimmers tend to be kind of nasty when it comes to Radio Frequency interference.. But, that said,, (This includes television by the way)

They do make dimmer modules, two ways to dim them, usual method is to chop the DC into square, or to be more precise, retangle waves, (The on/of ratio is varied to dim them) Lots and Lots of RV issues doing that.

Wondered how they worked. Thanks for the help. Also wondered if they would hinder a neighbor. We hang some rope light on our awning, for help in the dark. They are not as bright. Thanks

We purchased this dimmer for our awning LED's. Since the interior lights were incandescent, we swapped those out too.
