I've towed my Subaru 2,000 miles on 3 separate occasions. The Subaru's brake lights are on so infrequently and for such a short time that it didn't cause a problem.
Now, if you are talking about tail lights or daytime running lights, the answer will change.
But, either way, it won't HURT anything at all to run the charge line.
