We've towed our Malibu for ~30,000 miles with a ReadyBrake and no power wire without having any issues. Our toad's lights were set up with diodes and the key is in the ACC position when it is towed. Ours requires a fuse be pulled to prevent battery drain and we installed a fuse switch to avoid having to pull it each time.
