To the O/P... You have described my first try at LED lighting, Poor light, Short life, Very disappointing.
I'm non Try 2 and 3 now.
Try 2 was a lamp recommended by an expert, cost me 15 bucks (plus S&H if you order it)
http://www.rv101byfred.com/ IT worked very well
Then I picked up an ECO-LED (pay attention to the color rating, Mine are CW) at a local RV dealer, this was a couple dollars more but I'm very impressed.
Now, I can not yet speak to the life (Advertised is very good but I've only been using these for a few months now) but the light is, if anything, brighter than the 1141 I replaced and way brighter than the 10 watt landscape lamp (I have 2 of 'em so far)
I have seen others I'd not give a dime for.. But these work.
My advice is to find out what others are using and are happy with, Make sure you get the same lamps they use or else a Try before you buy or buy from a sticks & bricks (at least the first lamp) where you can try it and return if not happy. (you can then order in bulk off the web if you wish)
