directv to dish

DirecTV has stopped supporting my receiver so I am thinking about going to dish. Give me some feed back on this subject. I can't get DirecTV to send me the new receiver.
  • Besides posting in the wrong forum, have you used the search function above? There are MANY threads on DirectTV and Dish (and moving from one to the other). We have Dish For My RV with a Wally receiver and a Pathway X2 antenna. Our bill is about $58/month with locals and we change our location using a phone app when we move. The whole setup has worked extremely well for 4-1/2 years of full-timing.

You only mention your receiver... you realize that the antennas are not interchangeable? The LNBs and switches are specific to each carrier.

  • Cut the OP some slack. Are you trying to run people off? It would have been better to explain his mistake then help as able.
  • Thanks everyone unlike some of you i don't post offen and forgot some thngs.
  • Directv notified everyone using SD receivers that this was going to take place. I called DTV and they sent an HD #H-24 box that I continue to use with my G3 dome.
  • You can absolutely get dtv to upgrade your receivers. And if they try to charge you, tell them to cancel your subscription.
If you do a little research ahead of time, you can basically name your deal if you’re ok being a jerk to them. The way TV, internet, phone and sometimes insurance services work, is your rates rise and services diminish as an established customer and the companies are very successful at getting folks to pay more for less or even more to get more. It’s part of the business plan.
And if you don’t get what you want, including some good promotional rate, switch to dish and get all their free perks and good rate for a while.
