First, this question gets asked and discussed on these forums just about every month, so you will find lots of info if you do a 'search'. Not trying to be rude, just helping you find what will probably be more then you want to know !
I fulltime and have used the Winegard Pathway X2 for 3 years now. Approx $400 on Amazon and comes with one 211z control box. The X2 has a bit larger antenna then the Pathway so it will do a little bit better when trying to shoot through tree leaves, etc. It has 2 outputs so you can connect to 2 TVs. Each TV can watch a different program AS LONG AS THEY COME FROM THE SAME SATELLITE. I believe that applies to the Tailgater too.
I bought the X2, then called Dish and told them which programming I wanted on the Pay as You Go plan. Done. No contract. Set up an on-line Dish account and can then change programming if I want to. I change local channels every time I move by using the Dish 'chat' feature on-line. Just give them the new 'service location' and 15 minutes later I have the new locals.
I really like these automatic types. Just set it on the ground with a clear view of the sky, attach the cable and watch it go through the process of acquiring satellites. I'm fascinated every time.
I've never really noticed any kind of delay on mine. If there is, it's pretty minor.
