- devildog1971ExplorerThis thread helped me with my King Dome thanks
- uncle_tExplorermy kingdome locked in once in 12 years. when i upgraded my directv dvr found it was incompatible with the old kingdome. went with a portable dome and tress, etc no longer an issue.
- mikestockExplorerMy KingDome was as moody as my wife. When it was in the right mood it locked onto the 101 with little coaxing but more and more often it would not lock. I have, when I had no other source for tv, gone up and manually set it with my meter.
Finally got enough, so Santa brought me a Winegard SK SWM3, early. I was surprised at how easy it was to install. Paid just over $1500 with Dicor sealant. Glad I didn't pay someone $400 to $500 to install it. Removing the KingDome and the goop took as much work as installing the SWM3. It works perfectly, without a hitch, so far. - The Poster states he has a "King Dome Sat". OK he has a Sat. But, King Dome makes and has built about 25 different models in 20 years. ALL have different parameters for programming and finding the Sats. So, without a specific Year/Model of King Dome, NOBODY can help this Poster. The Link a poster supplied to the King Dome systems will help the OP if he goes to that link with his KD model number. Doug
- chuckbearExplorerWhat this bulletin does not say is that many of these KingDomes will also no longer find and lock on the DirecTV satellites too. Chuck

- bullydogs1ExplorerIf one has the KVH dome R6 and it no longer works on Dish, there is a workaround to have it locate 119 but only 119 which would give you some channels...I can email the commands you need to input to it via the serial port...KVH basically is now concentrating on the marine industry and letting RV fall by the wayside...I now have the Winegard Traveler on the Entegra and for the most part..works fine once you get used to its quirks.
- FIRE_UPExplorerOur coach is an '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the C-7 330HP CAT and, as far as we know, the Kingdome on it, was fitted to it either sometime in '04 or '05, not sure, we didn't own it then. It's a non-HD King Dome as well as, our box IN the coach. It's non HD too so, even with our brand newly installed LED Tv, we get less than high quality pics on Satellite.
Since the standard operation of the Kingdome stopped years ago, we have to manually control that Kingdome. That is, with the TV screen on, we navigate to the signal meter screen of the Direct TV with the remote from the box. When that screen appears, there is a horizontal graph line in the middle of the screen, along with the sound of the TV going beep..........beep.......beep...... etc.
Now, we turn on the Kingdome and press the search button. We hear the gears grinding away and, if there's no clouds and no ubstructions (trees/buildings etc.) between the Kingdome and the satellite, eventually (sometimes within less than a minute, sometimes it's 5-6-8 minutes for the satellite to pick up the one it needs.
When that happens, the graph starts to go green from left to right and displays percentage of signal. And, the beeps, go beep..beep..beep.beep.beep.beep etc. In other words, they get considerably closer and faster.
Now, since the Kingdome auto lock hasn't functioned in years, we have to stop the search manually by shutting it down by turning it off. Otherwise, it will pass up the one that's needed and just keep on searching. It's worked like that for well over about 5 years or so. Maybe this info will help someone.
Scott - Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIYou must be talking about a KVH dome. I am not aware of any other dome that has a similar option. It also depends upon the age of the dome. The older the are the less likely they will work.
- janstey58ExplorerThere are a few lines of code that can be added to some of the Dish worthy dishes IOS via a serial PC connection into the dish. This changes the protocol the dome uses to search for the birds. Google this and you will find a procedure on how to do it, saved me a lot of $$$.
