Our coach is an '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the C-7 330HP CAT and, as far as we know, the Kingdome on it, was fitted to it either sometime in '04 or '05, not sure, we didn't own it then. It's a non-HD King Dome as well as, our box IN the coach. It's non HD too so, even with our brand newly installed LED Tv, we get less than high quality pics on Satellite.
Since the standard operation of the Kingdome stopped years ago, we have to manually control that Kingdome. That is, with the TV screen on, we navigate to the signal meter screen of the Direct TV with the remote from the box. When that screen appears, there is a horizontal graph line in the middle of the screen, along with the sound of the TV going beep..........beep.......beep...... etc.
Now, we turn on the Kingdome and press the search button. We hear the gears grinding away and, if there's no clouds and no ubstructions (trees/buildings etc.) between the Kingdome and the satellite, eventually (sometimes within less than a minute, sometimes it's 5-6-8 minutes for the satellite to pick up the one it needs.
When that happens, the graph starts to go green from left to right and displays percentage of signal. And, the beeps, go beep..beep..beep.beep.beep.beep etc. In other words, they get considerably closer and faster.
Now, since the Kingdome auto lock hasn't functioned in years, we have to stop the search manually by shutting it down by turning it off. Otherwise, it will pass up the one that's needed and just keep on searching. It's worked like that for well over about 5 years or so. Maybe this info will help someone.
