Disposal of small propane canister question.

In NFS and SP's CG's were I camp they put them next to the dumpsters and they are recycled.

Here we are to take them to a recycling facility, trash compactor operators don't like running over grenades.

So do I actually. Then it's off to the scrap barrel and then to the scrap yard eventually.

Here in Ontario we're asked to recycle propane canisters in orange bins located in each provincial park, operated by Stewardship Ontario. Hard to believe there aren't similar programs in the US. :h

Metal should be recycled as Scott and I do.

I put them in the recyling.

I use these small tanks also but I've wondered about them as they must be one of the worst items to put in a landfill. They'll never decompose. Can't they come up with a safe way of reusing them? A terrible waste?
