I used a rear hitch rack to hold my wife's scooter for quite some time. Alas, no longer have wife or need scooter so it's gone now.
Before we got a towed.. I would pick up that 250 lb scooter and set it on the rack,, fully assembled, was easier than breaking it down for easier lifting.
