Right now, our trailer spends the summer sitting in, and thus blocking, much of our driveway. I have an open area next to our drive that would fit our TT. It is grass at this point, and we don't want to put in a full pad in this area. If I were to use it for the trailer, are there reasons to turn the entire area into a gravel drive, or could I simply put in footings and a parking base at the tire and jack locations? I know such a set up would mean I'd need to look ahead and get the trailer onto pavement if we were going to be pulling out on wet/rainy days, but beyond that, are there other reasons this wouldn't work?
I guess i just don't get the whole idea of parking the trailer at home during the summer. I assume that the rest of the year the trailer is in a storage yard. Is the storage yard far away? Do you cancel storage for the four or five months of summer, then hope to get it back in the fall?
We live in a Town House, no place for the 5er. Storage yard about 4 miles from the house. We keep it mostly stocked the entire year, cloths, non perishable food, all other necessities.
Time for a trip, we have a tote and freezer bags we load the food from home and any extra cloths we need and head for the 5er. We load up and hook up and head out. I have also done maintenance in the storage yard.
Best time for decide and gone was a weekend trip to the coast. Out of the office at 2:15 pm, 4 miles to home, install hitch, air up tires, load food tote, load dogs bed and the dogs 4 miles to storage yard. Start refer (we decide that morning to go), load food in refer and freezer, hook up do a double walk around to be sure all is ready to hit the road, and were out the yard gate at 3:30 PM not too bad!!
Why kill the grass!
